CDbaby

Simple upload, wide reach

Upload was straightforward and the UPC tools were built in. I liked the step-by-step checks before sending to platforms. Took me a minute to map contributors, then the release date and pricing were easy. Felt smooth for an indie.

Solid distro with extras

Distribution felt reliable and I left reassured after seeing publishing add-ons in one place. Slight wait on inspection, but quality of delivery across platforms made me confident.

Good for a first release

Dashboard showed each store status and a little checklist calmed my nerves. Payout setup felt normal. When I saw Spotify live a few days later, I just grinned.

They are scammers dude

Don’t be fooled by this fake company, they are scammers. After doing lot research, it turns out that many artists are complaining because CD Baby doesn’t pay all the royalties. They’re clearly cheating, don’t answer emails, don’t care about you, and treat you like idiots. So, it’s definitely one to avoid if you value your releases.

Unfortunately, there’s no way

Unfortunately, there’s no way to get a pdf that shows the Transactions. This feature is really important for the accounting team. If they could sort that out, it would be a lot more helpfull.

They keep requesting a tax number.

They keep requesting a tax number. As a UK citizen, I handle my own taxes and am not a US citizen. Because of this, they won't release payment! AVOID THEM! AWFUL SERVICE EXPLOITING CREATORS ONCE MORE.

Distrokid's recent policy changes make

Distrokid's recent policy changes make their platform less reliable. A friend recommended CD Baby; they've had a good experience. I'll try it before moving my music collection there.

CD Baby makes it VERY simple

CD Baby makes it VERY simple to place your songs on many online platforms, so I'm giving 5 stars. However, getting them on the phone for questions is really difficult.

The company's service is generally reliable.

The company's service is generally reliable. Lately, the main site has been facing significant issues for weeks. Customer support has been lacking, with slow responses or no answers at all.

CD Baby made it so easy for me to release

CD Baby made it so easy for me to release my album! Their website is easy to use, and they keep helping me out with support and stuff.

Where is customer service?

Nightmare playground run by children. High end wav files produced in good sound studios will not upload to cdbaby. Files meet their stated requirements but will not upload. Then the help thereafter is sketching. Instead of helping they refund my $. Hmmmmm......"don't bother us we r not in the business of helping artists". This entire sector of the industry is run by children with failing bands and careers. I am reminded of all the unbooked bands in the 80s that started recording studios cuz gigs were few. HERE WE ARE folks

The company gets your music on

The company gets your music on streaming platforms quickly. It's faster than some others I read about. They put my album out in less than a week. Submitting music is easy. But, customer support is slow. It takes 2-3 days for them to reply. By the time they got back to me, my problem fixed itself.

Cd Baby makes it simple and

Cd Baby makes it simple and easy to distribute my music. The cost to release new songs is low compared to other distributors, which I love.

I've had a mostly good time releasing

I've had a mostly good time releasing my first 2 songs with CD Baby. Like the simple website and extra options. Also, liked meeting staff & other artists at LIVE Nashville event. One problem took long to get fixed (co-writer's pub. info). Chat-Help system's kinda hard. Still, eager to release more music with CD Baby.

Compane servise iz amazin'.

Compane servise iz amazin'. Dey r so carein', payin' lotz of attenshun, n' helpin' a lot. Design of prodect iz cool, workin' well with artist and waitin' patient. Everythin' together iz like gettin' 100% gold star. I'll defo come back again. -Chris Plunkett

This company's performance has

This company's performance has worsened over the years. It's poorly managed and takes advantage of musicians regularly. I'd recommend looking for better alternatives.
