This app is quite useful for my needs. It’s structured in a way that makes it easy to guide my learning wherever I want. I really appreciate how the AI breaks down my responses and explains why something should be phrased another way. Clever design! I feel encouraged to keep up with Italian, since it looks like this will help me make real progress!

Scam!

Subpar language learning app that offers little if anything you couldn't do yourself with chat gpt. They offer a risk free refund at checkout but them decline to refund when request a few days later. I received an email requesting I jump through hoops and prove to them why I deserve a refund. No thank you! I am too busy for games but I have enough time to write some reviews.

AI is great on this one

I have been using MakesYouFluent for sometime already, and just wanted to recommend it to some of my friends and decided to write a review here too. The AI tutor is a really great tool, for getting started, for a person like me, who has Anxiety talking with people, the AI tutor does the job.

Love how the AI corrects my mistakes

Love how the AI corrects my mistakes. I can't tell I'm not really talking to a human; it's intelligent, responsive, definitely passes the Turing Test!!! AMAZING!!! It is well matched to my level of competence with a slight edge to it that gently pushes me. I like it very much.

Doesn't work as advertised - Scam!

The app doesn’t work at all as advertised. I requested a cancellation and refund via email (there is no way to cancel in the app). They told me they were aware of the problems but still refused to offer a refund! I disputed the transaction with my credit card company and had the money returned. If you have had the same problem I suggest you do the same.

Do NOT waste your time & money

I’m VERY dissatisfied & disappointed with MakesYouFluent. Do NOT give this company your money. You get nothing in return. All it is is clicking through one word at a time. Can get that from a free online dictionary. I mistakenly added an extended subscription from 6 months to 12 months. Within one hour I asked for the 2nd charge to be reversed & they REFUSED. The program is not even what they advertise. I wonder if the positive reviews are fake. I think it’s a big ripoff & am posting this negative review to warn others.

It was easy for me to get my light circuit moved so that I could create a bigger opening and have more space. Not a big deal for me; I have some extra nice t-shirts now, but overall it looks like a possibly serious issue.

They advertised that they offer British English learning, but once I made the payment, I discovered that this was not the case at all. It was frustrating to find out after the fact, and when I reached out for a refund, they outright refused. I wasted my time trying to resolve this issue with their customer service, whojust repeted that they do not refund. I will be pursuing a refund through my bank, but I regret the time lost dealing with a company that seems to only care about taking money rather than delivering what they promise. Avoid at all costs

Not very good so far, I wish to get corrections when I talk to someone on the Phone. The AI just answers my questions or keeps chating, but during that time I'm not recieving any feedback.

It's great, I enjoy going over the basics

It's great, I enjoy going over the basics to build a strong base and these phrases to boost my vocabulary are all in helpful contexts! I took college-level German courses for more than a year with regular books and I didn't feel as sure as I do now about MakesYouFluent.

The app works properly.

The app works properly. Initially, it looked like the audio feature for chats wasn’t operating, but it was soon resolved. The main issue is the lack of diverse options and tools for learning and practice. It feels somewhat restrictive in this regard; there are just a few activities available. Otherwise, everything else is okay.

I enjoyed the section with images, where I need to explain them. Then the tips and fixes are very useful for improving.

The idea for learning a language is solid

The idea for learning a language is solid, but not all features work well. The Hands-free mode doesn't function correctly, which could be helpful. More practice or activities would be beneficial for memorizing the words. Besides that, the topics are interesting, and the AI characters are friendly.

MYF is boosting my word skills and speech tone a lot. The AI helps by fixing the errors I make and showing me the correct way to form sentences. Spend on this. MYF is a wise choice for investment.

The design is easy to grasp, and I appreciate the tool for storing fresh vocabulary terms. Plus, splitting tasks into practice and new terms helps apply new words right away. One feature I use often is the space to type your response, which provides the translation. This helps in gaining fluency with prompt, natural answers for learning!

I like the app a lot.

I like the app a lot. However, it sometimes repeats the same questions during chats with the bot. Additionally, when describing images, it only highlights corrections word by word, rather than fixing the entire sentence. It would be better if it could handle full sentence corrections.

This company has a terrible service, they charge three times for the same app, and it works terribly!!! There are plenty of good options, but this isn´t one of them.

Really bad

Tried it for a while. I have I iPhone 14 pro(IOS 17.5.1 in use) and had to turn on the voice commands for the program to work. Still very clumsy compared to other app I use. now. They have invested in fb advertisements but you really do not get what they want you to think. Sort of scam,. Not worth the money. Feels like developmental project that you’re funding.

It's great that I can practice for just a few minutes or spend hours, and it still counts for the day. The AI chats with "celebrities" are also really fun. They feel like real talks, and I get useful tips on how to make my sentences better, along with praise when I do well. It’s exactly what I wanted!

Neat concept, lousy content

I can only comment on the Spanish language side of the app but the phrases it uses are straight out of Comedy Central... nobody speaks like that. The quickest way to communicate with people in any country are to use simple phrases that convey simple ideas, opinions, and needs. So, while the overall concept is fine, the execution needs to be revisited and the content made fit for purpose in the 21st century.

The customer service team here is really great. Quick responses and effective solutions. I had a double charge for my subscription that I couldn't remove from my card. I contacted them, and they reimbursed the fee immediately! Happy to keep using MYF. I asked my Spanish tutor to focus on Mexican Spanish, not Spanish from Spain, and the change was immediate.

I became good at Spanish when I was little

I became good at Spanish when I was little, but I didn't speak it for over 30 years. Using the AI chat feature, I got to work on my grammar and pronunciation like it was a real talk with someone. It helped a lot more than any other lesson I've had.

I like this app.

I like this app. It's not flawless, but it's getting better and better. It works great alongside a real teacher or tutor. The best part is being able to practice whenever and wherever with immediate feedback. My fluency has really picked up as I learn to think and speak in my target language. Definitely recommended.

SCAM!!!

SCAM!!!!!! The app and service is nothing even like what is promised - garbage - dont believe when they tell you ''Your own speaking plan: Made for you, based on your quiz answers'' - there is zero nothing personlized here and options are so basic with few options. They also sign you up to an ongoing subscription to keep taking payments and there is no way to cancel this. The emails before payment mention online chat on the website for assistance - this doesnt exist!! - and good luck getting in touch with them by email on any of their addresses as no reply or the emails bounce.

The web app didn't show you your subscription and end date.

You will forget the poor app until you find your credit card was charged by it. When you log in to your account you can't find somewhere to show your purchase and end date and of course, there is no CANCEL subscription button. You reach customer support and it's hard to reach out to deal with the problem. Don't buy this app.

Extreamily and super slutty

Do not waste your money on this app I tried to pay with my PayPal account but didn`t work so I used my bank account to pay this app. I canceled because this app is just that bad after many months they found a way to take money from my PayPal account and there is no way to get back impossible to cancel my subscription using this stupid app you have to send email. make short dishonest people super shit app. chat GPT its better and free please don't waist your money in this crap
